PREMIER LEAGUE CLUBS spent nearly £100 million on agents’ fees in 2013 with Chelsea and Manchester City accounting for more than 25% of that total according to figures released this evening.
The figures — which cover the period between October 31 2012 and September 1 — represent an increase of nearly £20m on the same period the previous year.
Chelsea, who signed the likes of Samuel Eto’o and Willian in the last 12 months top the list, handing over £13.7m to agents, followed closely by Manchester City who parted with £11.2m, an increase of nearly one million from last year.
Reigning Premier League champions Manchester United spent £4.3m on football’s middlemen over the two transfer windows covered in the report while Crystal Palace propped up the table, paying out less than £900,000.
